QooForum Launch - Members Posting At High Rates
A while back, there was a post entitled “Start A Thread - Earn Some Cash” by Garry Egan. He wrote about a new business model and a website called QooForum. This model was centered around a single premise. Once the user has posted 50 entries into the forum, they then receive ½ of the Adsense revenue from Google for that forum thread. So I watched as people started creating forum threads on the website. These appeared on a variety of topics. Recipes to home improvement. Relationship advice to web site development.
Our site sponsor asked us to review their website service - A forum where you receive 1/2 of the Advertising revenue when you start a thread. They have an exciting new method of creating un-interesting babble. At least to me. I don’t mean to be harsh but the forum posts lacked deep content. That’s the best way I can put it. Nothing substantial. Kind of a Forum-based Chat Line.
The problem I see with this business model is that I don’t see a strong source of revenue. Forum posts that lack substantiative content don’t necessarily rank well on the search engines. They may rank well on a very specific topic (read: very longtail) that may be hard to find through conventional search terms. And, since hits to the page directly correlate to Adsense revenue, the money will be slight.
For example: if you’re looking how to rebuild a 69 mustang engine, you might wind up on a post from this forum centered around Mustangs. However, the information isn’t that useful and you’re probably going to go elsewhere. Perhaps that’s where the Adsense revenue comes into play. Get the user on the site then move on to Google through their Adsense program. Believe it or not. There is a value to the user there. It’s thin. But, it’s there.
Plus, the people who are trying to get their 50 posts in reply to the existing threads to qualify. And, since the original poster gets 1/2 of the Adsense revenue, you have sort of a MLM model for a PPC supported forum.
What if a person can’t get a Google Adsense account? You will not be able to participate in the program.
I don’t even want to entertain the thought that perhaps the forum posters click on their own ads, as do the forum commenters, etc. This might be just 1-notch below Google’s PPC Click Fraud radar. Some people are near-instantly kicked off of Google’s Adsense program due to Click Fraud.
One thing that is for sure about this website. There are a lot of posts over the last few months. The entire web site can be summarized by a business model, a couple of ReviewMe reviews to start generating traffic, and this website is officially launched. Cheers to that. Regardless of product or service quality.
Regardless of outcome, this should be an interesting watch.
