Google Worries That Garry Egan Preparing For DDoS Attack, Assigns Handler Mark Lucovsky

Mountain View, CA (AP Newswire) – January 26, 2008 – Search engine expert Garry Egan has been assigned Mark Lucovsky as his Google handler in responds to a recent theory that Egan may be preparing for a DDoS attack against Google (or perhaps The Church of Scientology).

“You might want to check with the FBI and The Department of Homeland Security,” said Lucovsky in a recent communiqué to Egan, adding “It looked at one point like possible preparations for a ddos attack on google or worse.”

Egan denied all allegations and is working with Google to rectify the problem.

“They wanted to be able to track usage on Article Checker with more detail,” said Article Checker founder Garry Egan. “I am not sure where they got the idea that we were using anonymous proxies.”

Google is so well scaled that even with 60,000 API queries per day from Article Checker, Google doesn’t feel a bump.

“…you are a VERY small customer,” said Lucowsky in regards to Article Checker’s traffic on Google.

Indeed. With all of the large-volumes of traffic querying Google through their API, Article Checker was somehow confused with some other website that was using an anonymous proxy round-robin to get around Google query limits.

Egan asked Lucovsky, after the mistake had been rectified, if Google had made a mistake and confused us with another web site.

He has not yet received an answer.
